What makes Alice Travel bridge programs different?
A great bridge vacation is about much more than the ship or destination. It's about the experience at the bridge table.
Our programs are built around five things serious bridge players value most:
- Outstanding instruction from Larry Cohen and Bridge with Larry Cohen certified instructors.
- The opportunity to earn Gold Masterpoints® on many of our ACBL-sanctioned Regional at Sea cruises.
- Friendly, professionally managed games with partner matching and full tables whenever possible.
- Beautiful cruise ships and exceptional resorts that enhance the overall experience.
- Thoughtful organization that includes comfortable playing spaces, pre-duplicated boards, Bridgemates® scoring, fresh cards, and experienced tournament staff.
We believe your vacation should feel effortless. Everything is carefully planned so you can spend your time enjoying bridge, making new friends, and exploring remarkable destinations.
What is Larry Cohen's Regional at Sea?
Larry Cohen's Regional at Sea combines ACBL-sanctioned Regional tournament bridge, expert instruction, and luxury cruising into one exceptional vacation.
A typical day might begin with a bridge lesson from Larry Cohen or another Bridge with Larry Cohen certified instructor, followed by professionally directed tournament play. When the ship is in port, you'll have time to enjoy shore excursions, explore fascinating destinations, or simply relax and experience the local culture. Throughout the cruise, you'll enjoy outstanding dining, opportunities to ask questions during interactive bridge discussions, and fun social activities and special events in the evenings.
The bridge program is designed to offer something for everyone. In addition to Regional events where players can earn coveted Gold Masterpoints®, many cruises include side games for guests who have been eliminated or simply want additional opportunities to play. The result is a full week of enjoyable bridge, regardless of your tournament results.
Regional at Sea is about much more than earning Gold. It's an opportunity to become a better bridge player, enjoy professionally organized competition, experience remarkable destinations, and spend time with people who share your passion for the game.
Will I improve my bridge?
That's one of the primary reasons guests choose to travel with Alice Travel.
Every Alice Travel bridge program is designed to help you become a stronger, more confident player. You'll learn from Larry Cohen, one of the world's most respected bridge teachers, or from one of his Bridge with Larry Cohen certified instructors, who share Larry's proven teaching philosophy and passion for making bridge easy to understand.
Larry has a remarkable ability to simplify complex concepts, break them into practical ideas, and explain not just what to do, but why it works. His engaging teaching style keeps players involved, asking questions, discussing hands, and paying close attention because they know every lesson will help them at the table.
Learning doesn't stop when the lesson ends. Throughout the cruise or camp, you'll put new ideas into practice during duplicate games, review interesting hands, and continue conversations with instructors and fellow players who share your passion for bridge.
Many guests tell us they return home with greater confidence, better judgment, and a deeper understanding of the game. More importantly, they return eager to sit down at their local club and put what they've learned into action.
Who teaches on Alice Travel bridge cruises and camps?
Many of our programs feature Larry Cohen, one of the most respected teachers in bridge, a World Champion, ACBL Hall of Famer, and 25-time National Champion.
Depending on the program, instruction may also be provided by acclaimed Bridge with Larry Cohen certified instructors including Michael Berkowitz, Robert Todd, Andy Avery, Rob Barrington, and other experienced teaching professionals. Each shares the same teaching philosophy – making bridge easier to understand, enjoyable to learn, and helping players become more confident at the table.
Can I earn Gold Masterpoints®?
Yes. Many of our bridge cruises feature ACBL-sanctioned Regional tournaments where eligible players can earn coveted Gold Masterpoints® while enjoying an exceptional vacation.
For players working toward Life Master or simply looking for more opportunities to earn Gold, Regional at Sea offers one of the most enjoyable ways to combine tournament bridge with luxury travel.
What skill level do I need?
Our programs welcome a wide range of bridge players.
Whether you're building your confidence, working toward Life Master, or already an experienced tournament player, you'll find instruction and games designed to help you enjoy the experience and continue improving.
If you're unsure whether a particular program is right for you, our Bridge Desk is happy to help you choose the best fit.
What is a typical day like on a bridge cruise?
While every itinerary is different, most days include a morning lesson followed by duplicate bridge sessions, with opportunities to ask questions and discuss interesting hands throughout the day.
When the ship is in port, you'll have time to enjoy excursions, explore fascinating destinations, or simply relax onboard. Evenings often feature additional bridge events or social activities.
Guests frequently tell us they appreciate the balance between bridge and travel. Bridge is always the centerpiece of the experience, but there's plenty of time to enjoy the journey as well.
Can I travel alone?
Absolutely. In fact, many of our guests do.
Our solo travelers are in good company. One of the things Alice Travel does best is making solo travelers feel welcome from the moment they arrive.
You don't need to worry about finding a bridge partner. Our experienced bridge staff takes care of partner matching, and we bring along capable fill-in players so everyone has a partner and every game runs smoothly. You can simply arrive and enjoy the experience.
Beyond the bridge table, you'll quickly become part of the Alice Travel community. Shared meals, excursions, social events, and a common love of bridge make it easy to meet people and form lasting friendships. Many of our solo travelers, especially women, tell us they were a little nervous before their first trip. Today, they're among our most loyal repeat guests because they know they'll always be welcomed back by friends.
For many guests, traveling alone is simply how they arrive. They never feel alone once the journey begins. Don't let traveling alone keep you from enjoying the bridge vacation you've been dreaming about.
What if I don't have a bridge partner?
Don't let not having a partner keep you from joining us.
Partner matching has long been one of the hallmarks of our bridge programs. Our experienced bridge staff works hard to match players with compatible partners, helping everyone enjoy a full week of bridge.
Many partnerships formed on an Alice Travel program continue long after the trip ends.
Are the bridge games friendly?
Very much so.
Our guests come to enjoy competitive bridge in a welcoming environment. Whether you're playing in a Regional event or a side game, you'll find a friendly atmosphere where courtesy, sportsmanship, and a shared love of bridge are part of every session.
Our experienced directors and staff work hard to keep the games enjoyable, well organized, and running smoothly.
Can my spouse or travel companion join me if they don't play bridge?
Yes.
Many guests travel with spouses, family members, or friends who don't play bridge. While you're enjoying lessons and tournaments, your travel companion is free to enjoy the ship, explore ports of call, relax at the resort, or participate in other activities.
It's a wonderful way to vacation together while each enjoying your own interests.
